LongTail Video is seeking a full-time Video Transcoding Engineer in our Eindhoven, NL office.

Video transcoding is a core component of our technology stack, used by tens of thousands of customers. As new technologies (WebM, Adaptive streaming) and devices (tablets, connected TVs) enter the market, we strive to support the latest and greatest while remaining reliable, affordable and easy to use. At the same time, our transcoding platform needs continual upgrading to accommodate explosive growth as we scale from processing TeraBytes to PetaBytes of data every day.

We are looking for a highly skilled, driven, and forward-thinking individual to work on enhancing and scaling our cloud-based transcoding platform that reaches over 3 million users world-wide. You must be able (and willing) to quickly pick up new technologies in the areas of cloud computing and online video. Our ownership culture means you will have full product responsibility, from initial research to design, development, testing and support. In This Role, You Will:

• Directly contribute to a massive cloud service that is used by tens of thousands of customers.
• Focus on reliability and scalability, testing and monitoring.
• Research new platforms and technologies for integration into our product line.
• Co-own the transcoding roadmap and development process.
• Work with our support team on smooth releases and rapidly incident resolving.

Qualities We’d Like You to Have:

• A Bachelor Science degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Previous experience with designing and implementing scaleable applications
• Strong knowledge of one or more of the following technologies:
• Python
• SQL / MySQL
• Video Transcoding / FFmpeg
• Virtualization / Cloud computing
• Linux
• Proficiency with version management, application/integration testing and testing/staging/production workflows.
• The ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and release top-notch products.
• Excellent English language skills.
